Green Lents is an all-volunteer led community group and could not be successful without the hard work and dedication of the team leaders.

Green Lents Leader
Jalene has lived in Oregon most of her life and loves the culture and beauty of this state.  She is currently working on a Master of Environmental Management at Portland State University focusing on habitat connectivity and climate change adaptation planning for wildlife.  Jalene enjoys volunteering with many different organizations including the Johnson Creek Watershed Council, the Lents International Farmers Market, the Lents Neighborhood Association, and of course Green Lents!  When not working on neighborhood initiatives or in the library at PSU, Jalene enjoys gardening and taking care of her urban farm with her husband, Justin.

Jalene's current activities:  Community Engagement Coordinator for the Foster Green EcoDistrict, Serves on the Lents International Farmers Market Steering Committee, Serves on the City of Portland's Brownfields Advisory Committee, Coordinates the Annual Lents Ramona Street Fair (last Sunday of July, SE 92nd & Ramona), Serves on the Lents Neighborhood Association's Events Planning Committee, Coordinates Green Lents' quarterly meetings, Coordinates the opening of the Green Lents Community Tool Library.

Watershed Team Leader
Melanie is an environmental scientist by trade with a focus on geology and hydrology; she is also getting a Master of Science degree in environmental engineering.  When not biking around the watershed, inspecting swales, or gawking at rocks she can be found snuggling with her cats, watching birds, and reading books.

Melanie's current activities:  Serves on the Foster Green EcoDistrict Steering Committee, Assists in coordination of the annual Johnson Creek stream clean in August in partnership with Overlook Park Coalition and Johnson Creek Watershed Council, Coordinates the new Green Streets Stewards program in Lents, Serves on the Johnson Creek Watershed Council's Outreach Committee, and Volunteers regularly at many neighborhood events including the Lents International Farmers Market, Springwater Corridor Trail restoration events, and Johnson Creek Watershed Council habitat restoration events.
